Working on this age old inherited philosophy, the Income tax Department, Rajasthan is headed by the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income tax (Pr. CCIT), Rajasthan, who exercises jurisdiction over the entire State of Rajasthan, and is the Cadre Controlling Authority of the Region. The Pr CCIT, Rajasthan is stationed at Jaipur. There are two Chief Commissioners of Income Tax stationed at Jodhpur and Udaipur respectively. The Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Rajasthan has jurisdiction over the Investigation wing which conducts Search and Seizure operations and the Central Circles which are primarily assigned the job of assessment of search cases. The Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Rajasthan is also stationed at Jaipur.
There are 11 Pr. Commissioners/Directors of Income tax at Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Alwar, Kota, Bikaner & Ajmer and 21 Commissioners/Directors of Income tax having various charges like Administration and Tax Payer Services, TDS, Exemption, ITAT, Audit, Appeals, I & C I & Central Charge covering the jurisdiction across the state.
Income tax Offices are present at 45 different geographical locations across the state of Rajasthan enabling its easy accessibility and proximity to citizens of different locations of the state.
There are three Ministerial Training Institute at Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur which are conducting training for the staff below the rank of Inspectors of Income tax.
