About 8,380 sq km area of Rajasthan State falls in National Capital Region (NCR), which is around 24.5% of the total National Capital Region, which is proclaimed as the world’s second largest urban agglomeration. It shares its border with five major Indian states: Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. 

Rajasthan is known for royalty, gallantry, resplendence, festivals and the barren yet striking Thar Desert. Its rich culture, colourfulfestivals, myriad customs and cuisines are deeply associated with the memories of the past.

Rajasthan is richly endowed with natural resources and hence known for extraction activities, as well as mineral-based manufacturing such as cement, ceramics and glass. Rajasthan’s natural resources include:Oil and gas (first deposits exploited in 2009 in Barmer district), 79 kinds of minerals, including almost the entire production of zinc, calcite, asbestos and gypsum in India.
